This year's Valentines is a bit of a strange one... in lockdown, like so many other milestones and celebrations that have come and gone we have been. unable to celebrate. To try and cheer people up, we were commissioned by Cadogen estates to create a large, floral installation In the centre of Duke of York Square to bring a smile to people during these hard times. This Valentine’s looks a little different and many loved ones are apart, families and friends kept away from one another, so this is a chance to share the love this Valentine’s and for the people of Chelsea to take a picture under our giant, ombre, flowery heart at, and send to someone they miss and love and can’t wait to see once all this is over.
Rainbows have become our nation’s symbol of hope for 2020, and now 2021. They promise brighter days ahead once the storm has passed. Together with Cadogan we wanted to create an uplifting floral display in Duke of York Square, Chelsea, that made passers-by smile, warmed up people’s hearts in the cold winter and brought hope to them in all the colours of the rainbow.
Design wise, we wanted to create the rainbow symbol in a subtle way, naturally letting the colours fade into each other as if growing softly.
Until we hug again. Ruth xxx
