Last weekend I had the great pleasure and honour of providing beautiful wedding flowers to one of my oldest friends and his lovely bride. The theme was colourful and cheery and cheerful it was! Amidst a very wet and stormy Saturday the bright, summery flowers shone even brighter and caused many a wide smile.
The wedding breakfast was artfully done in the style of a very English, afternoon tea and so the long tables were scattered with tonnes of scones, lashings of jam and cream, bell jars full of brownies, bakewell tarts, carrot cakes, lemon drizzle slices, yummy quiches, mini cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches and so on and so on! It was a real feast, and in between all the delicious treats were jam jars and vintage bottles packed full of seasonal, summery, bright flowers. Flower wise, we went with two different shades of pink stocks to add a bit of height to the arrangements-- they look so great just as one or two stems in an old green bottle, and of course they smell divine too! Then we had the bright pink, Cheerio Rose, the Vuvuzella Garden Rose, lots of Chamomile and Daisies, at the bride’s request and of course, all the neon bright Gerberas that were dotted down the tables. What fun they were! Pops of luminous orange, pink and yellow.. and they went so well with the homemade bunting and jam covers that the couple had made as favours for all of the guests. The hall had such a beautiful and relaxed feel to it-- the perfect English country wedding!!
