Each year countries across the globe pause to celebrate International Women's Day on the 8th March and each do so in their own, special little ways. In true flowery style, the Russians and the Italians are two nations who give out sprigs of the wonderfully bright and cheery Mimosa to women who they respect and admire.
I was of course delighted when I was asked if I would provide London's leading language school, St. Giles Central in Holborn, with over 100 stems of the yellow blossom in honour of the tradition.
The school gave it away to international students for a small, charitable donation and ended up raising over £400 for the wonderful charity 'Expand', who aid schools, teachers and of course women and girls in Malawi. What a heart -warming day it was all round and such a pleasure to be a part of such a beautiful time old tradition and charitable project. Girl power!!
