And so we are a month into Winter. The nights are still long, the mornings still dark and if you are anything like me, you are ready for bed at just 8pm! Getting up to go to the flower market can be difficult when you feel like hibernating and yet as soon as you are there you are reminded of the beautiful days yet to come. What with all the beautiful paperwhites, ranunculus, anenomes and tulips, spring has definitely sprung already at New Covent Garden. This morning I couldn’t resist scooping up some baby ‘tete a tete’ bulbs. For me, these are the ultimate early signs of spring.... nothing says “winter is over” quite like a trumpeting, golden-yellow, mini-daff! No doubt I will be watching the pale green, baby shoots grow, while counting the cold days off on my calendar. Vive le printemps!
